Growing Up Too Young
by Christina Hanley

Little girls these days--walking around in short skirts, makeup, and four-inch heels. These little girls have no perspective on life. They think because Britney can do it, so can they. They are going to learn that it isn't just walking the part of a grown teenager, it's how to act mature.

Fourteen and fifteen year old girls think, "Yeah, I've been through it all," but that's a straight up lie. If I learned anything while growing up it's that you can only trust yourself. No one will ever help you when it comes down to it. These girls think they can date older guys and think that they will care. I'm sorry, but lessons have to be learned. These boys don't want you, they want what you can give.

You're probably thinking "What can a 17 year-old say to younger teenagers." Well--a lot. Heartbreak, losing friends, losing trust, losing loyalty, self respect, pregnancy, STDs, disappointment, suicide attempts, but, most of all, regret. So take a lesson from someone close to your age who's not an adult: think before you act and speak. Remember, I've been through many of the same things. Words will slip out and you might just lose everything.

So take my suggestion, be a little girl for as long as possible. Wear loose clothes, less make-up, have sleep overs, volunteer in your community, and definitely don't try to show off your bodies or act easy to impress a boy. The bad thing is, girls will just be calling you a whore and girl friends are going to be around a lot longer than that boy. So stay young and beautiful, just the way you are, act your age and live that age to the fullest!
