Caelon
A lavish city deep within the center of the thickly wooded and mystical Forest of Dreimme. Caelon is inhabited by an ancient and enigmatic race of forest-dwelling people with carefully guarded secrets. Instead of clearing away the forest to build their city, they built their city within the forest. Majestic buildings of natural materials stand strong with massive, living trees as their cornerstones. The floors are of worn stone tiles, the water supply comes from naturally flowing rivers, the interiors are decorated by plants growing up from the forest floor pruned to artistic perfection by skilled "growers." Intricate treetop bungalows are built around tree tops and on tree limbs. The entire city of Caelon is a glorious and mysterious masterpiece of natural artwork.
Lavenhill
A small, rural village in Highlands inhabited mostly by families that have lived there for countless years. Its citizens do what most rural villagers do: farming, carpentry, blacksmithing, etc. Since the beginning, it had been run by an elected official, the mayor—until recently. But now a new magistrate has come riding into town trailed by an armed escort, doing away with the mayor and town council and establishing himself as the head of the village. The magistrate's motives are suspicious, claiming that the throne in Tyne sent him to unite Lavenhill with the rest of the country in ideals and spirit. But that's not the only unexpected change for this obscure village. At around the same time, a new minister settles in town, establishes a church, and proclaims himself to be just a simple servant of God. And then a mysterious book peddler comes to town. All this is highly unusual for a distant, country village who has gotten only a handful of new settlers since its birth centuries ago. Are the Highlands just becoming more populated or is there something deeper going on that Lavenhill's inhabitants just can't see?
Lillemarre
The celebrated "City of Crystal Waters" nestled within the luscious Valley of the Seer. Lillemarre is a city overrun by water. Its streets are not the familiar dirt or cobblestone of other cities; instead the roadways are placid channels of sparkling, spring-fed water traveled by commonboats, small, water-borne vessels powered by a single driver wielding a long, slender paddle. Buildings all stand on platforms that rise 2-3 feet above the water, allowing easy access to commonboats and nearly all constructed with brilliant white marble or other gorgeous waterproof materials. An ingenious underground waterway system, whose exact construction has been lost for centuries, prevents the city from being flooded.
The Northlands
The "Northlands" refers to northern region of Areithos which is characterized by rolling yet rocky green hills spotted and rugged seaside cliffs. Rain is quite frequent, due to the closeness of the sea, which accounts for the vivid green hills. However, the frequent storms often make the skies seem "moody" and quite beautiful. The Northlands has a natural, rugged beauty and has no large cities but a few, only small farming towns like Lavenhill. Several mostly uninhabited islands spot the northern seafront. The people of the Northlands are unlike others in Areithos. Most people here are descendants of the original inhabitants of Areithos, long before Areithos was called "Areithos" and before the first foreign settlers came pouring in by sea and through the mountain passes. Although they now speak the same language as the rest of Areithos, you can detect a bit of a lilting accent in some, especially those of older generations. Northlanders are a superstitious people, who pass down ancient myths and legends and stories from generation to generation.
The Highlands: A major region of the Northlands is an area known as the Highlands, which is situated in the far northeast corner on a vast plateau several thousand feet above the rest of the region. The Highlands are bordered by a chain of mountains on two sides and by the sea on the other. This is a very ancient region, as evidenced by the nearly prehistoric standing stones and monoliths and a centuries old stone castle in the heart of the Highlands. One can often sense a strong regionalistic feeling here. In fact, Highlanders unsuccessfully tried to legally separate the area from the country of Areithos several centuries back.
Tyne
The capital city of Areithos, home of the government, the royal family, and several influential nobles. Tyne is named after Nolen Tyne, Areithos' first king and the heroic man who led the fight in the country's war for independence. The city lies atop a hill that is encircled by the gentle Ledrelle River. Tyne is situated in front of the Harbor of Areithos, the most used port in the entire country (and arguably the entire world). Ships bearing goods, passengers, and precious materials from overseas are constantly traveling to the bustling harbor. The docks are always swarming with people, whether they be sailors, immigrants, travelers, merchants, or others. The city, situated in the warm southern region of the nation, is the intellectual, cultural, and political hub of Areithos.
