The Search For the Golden Plum: PART II
by Kyla J.

As you walk through a wood you come to a clearing.  In this clearing are many people.  You recognize some faces from the last time you went to a meeting on storylines.  Soon you stake a seat like the rest on the soft grass.
Soon you see the shrouded girl you had seen before.  She seems to run the meetings.  She stands on a tree stump to make herself look larger.  Soon she hops off the stump and makes her way through the crowd.
"Hello, hello, hello," she greets individuals with a firm handshake and then makes her way back to the stump.  "I'm glad you all made it back, and I think I see some new faces.  I am your GameMaster, Kyla.  For the new ones, and to refresh everyone else's memory, a storyline is an adventure.  It can go anywhere, because it is you who makes the decisions.  I help a bit, by offering advice and getting you started, but its you who will continue the story.  When continuing a story, please do not finish it, unless I have said to.  You should leave your story where someone else can easily find it, and weave more threads into it.  This story becomes more than a story because it has no one single author."
A person you have never seen before, apparently new, stands.  "How do I continue the story?" the person asks.
The GameMaster's eyes shine as she explains.  "First you will carefully read everything already written.  Become that adventure.  If this was really happening, what would happen next?  Then, pick up your tools.  These tools are precious and anyone who holds them can make magic.  Take your pencil, pen, or keyboard and write!  You may add anything to this story, as long as it befits what has already been done.  Add a dash of mystery, a sparkle of excitement, a spoonful of romance, or a bit of fantasy.  Add whatever you would like and make this story the best ever!

What Happened Last Time...
"Basly solemnly left Gafelin's house.....How will I ever find become a Gem Holder if I have to put off training to find some stupid plum?...
Basly is a very impatient boy. Gafelin soon found that out. He wanted to rush the training. So, to teach the lad patience and to improve his wit and skill, Gafelin sent him out to find the Golden Plum......
Many have set out to find the golden plum, and all but one have returned home
empty handed--that one didn't return home at all.
But Basly loaded his pack full of food and clothing and important supplies, and started off, glum and mad.....   [end of previous story]

PART II
Night was now upon Basly as he climbed up the pebbled scattered path slowly. With a soft grunt, he set himself upon a nearby tree, carelessly tossing aside his pack. Gazing up, he could no longer see the night sky, his view blocked by the thick canopy of leaves and branches.
Muttering to himself, Basly complained about what he swore was his joints creaking from the long journey. Glancing around Basly realized he had thrown his pack further than he could reach, with a grunt and a thud, Basly stumbled to his feet and went to retrieve his pack. As he bent down, a glint of metal and a rustling in the bushes caught Basly's attention and pushed all thoughts of his pack out of his mind.
In the bushes knelt a small figure, attempting to remain unseen. She had been quietly following Basly from within the shadows since he had left his home that dawn. She knew she had been caught the moment Basly turned his head towards the bush. Thoughts wildly rushed through her mind, concocting reasons for her presence.
Basly crept cautiously towards the bush, his hand resting readily on the hilt of his short sword. With a shrill cry, he pulled apart the bushes....
