About

Xenith began life as an ASCII text zine that existed only in late 90s AOL inboxes. We began dual publishing issues on our website just before the new millennium in an attempt to broaden our audience. We released over forty issues in less than five years, earning a devoted following and press exposure, including an appearance in the New York Times Upfront Magazine.

A thriving community of young writers developed on Xenith after the addition of forums to the site. Resident wordsmiths used the forums as a digital writing workshop and social hub. As time went on, the community become the heart and main focus of Xenith.

Today, Xenith exists as both literary magazine and community. In 2007 and 2008, a small crew of Xenith of writers played with our experience of community by participating in that greatest community experiment of them all, Burning Man. We hope to return in 2011, this time upending the expected idea of ‘literary magazine’ by presenting an issue as art installation.

Visit our site daily to read the latest poetry, prose and articles about writing. Writers are encouraged to read our submission guidelines and submit their work for publication. If you’re simply looking for feedback on your work, please visit our forums.
