“We Shall Not Be Moved” sung by Mavis Staples; “Oh Freedom” sung by Mary D. Williams.

–Please let me know if songs don’t work for you. If it becomes clear that something’s playing only for me I’ll make a different selection. You know, one that you can listen to.

Jon H. Jones is braver than anybody thought, it would seem, especially himself: with no money and no job and no plans, he packed a suitcase and took a bus across the country. Las Vegas is more than he could have hoped for, and he plans to get under its skin and make it his home. He's one of those creative sorts, you know, a writer and photographer and so on, and he likes to live his life the same way--get struck by inspiration and have faith that if he keeps working at it, something amazing will happen. So far it always has. Life's funny that way.

  1. The Mavis Staples doesn’t work, but if it’s anything like the next song I know I want to hear it! Nice choice.

  2. Doesn’t it? It’s playing fine for me, how odd. Is it playing for anyone else, I wonder?

The Staples song is another classic civil rights anthem, but done in a less traditional way. Jazzy.

  3. Since it’s nearly a month later, I must admit that the Staples song does not work for me.

    Hope that helps?
